Hippeastrum papilio makes pots look fantastic with eye-catching flowers and lush foliage. Being epiphytic, you can also grow this unusual beauty in trees.
How to plant
Plant out the bulbs in full sun to semi-shade, in well-draining soil. Plant the bulbs with their necks exposed above the soil surface and 15cm apart. Feed regularly with bulb food and mulch with compost.
Water every three to four days for 10 minutes, provided it hasn’t rained. More frequently in pots.
